Part A is the foundation of Medicare. Covers hospitalization, skilled nursing facility care and hospice. Generally no monthly premium.
What does this coverage include?
Inpatient hospital care
Up to 60 days with $1,632 deductible (2024). Days 61-90 have daily copay. Day 91+ uses lifetime reserve days.
Skilled nursing facility care
Up to 20 days with no copay (after 3+ day hospitalization). Days 21-100 with $204/day copay (2024).
